The soul is made of love and must ever strive to return to love.
Therefore, it can never find rest nor happiness in other things.
It must lose itself in love. By its very nature it must seek God, who is love.
~ Mechthild of Magdenburg ~
Essential Practice:
At the center of the soul of oneness is unconditional love. It is the lifeline that connects us; it is the blood that courses through our veins. It is our most powerful and most untapped resource and energy on the planet today. It is the fabric of our existence, it is who we are.
To experience the soul of oneness requires that you give the most precious gift you can offer others and that is your unconditional presence. When you embrace others with mindfulness and unconditional love, they bloom, thrive and soar.
Begin your day with connecting to your own presence, the soul of oneness, through silence and prayer. Remember that you are not what you do and you are not the various roles and activities that you will enact today. You are a soul living in this human experience. Connect with your soul with each breath. Fill yourself with God’s unconditional love, allowing it to infuse your heart, your body and your awareness. Know that in this present moment and in every moment, you are connected to the source of oneness and filled to overflowing with unconditional love. When you take time to become present with yourself, you will find that you naturally want to give the gift of your presence to others.
Practice being in presence everywhere you are today and with everyone you meet. Receive each person as a gift from God sent to you as a messenger and a reminder to be present. Extend your love to each person by offering your unconditional presence. Listen beyond and between the words. Listen for the expression of love. Listen for the request for love. Listen for the soul of oneness. Today, your only purpose is to give this most magnificent gift of your own unguarded heart, your own unconditional presence. Tend to each person you meet as an extension of the soul of oneness. Remember that often what is most precious hides itself, the wild and tender things have retreated and will only reveal themselves to those who are present. Watch the preciousness unfold before you as you pay attention to what has heart and meaning moment to moment, person to person. This is the soul of oneness.
Affirmation:
I am powerfully present, tending to the soul of oneness and enfolding every person I meet with unconditional love.
Everything tremors interiorly. We are divine. We are the temple, we are the worshiper. Total and immaculate consciousness has always been within us. Nothing and no one can give it to us or alter its scintillating quality. ~ Daniel Odier, Desire ~
Scintillating = brilliantly lively, stimulating. This is the sacred tremoring of the indwelling presence. To allow everything to open me, to awaken me, to love me…everyone, everywhere, everywhen. To receive every “guest” into my house as a messenger from beyond the beyond, calling me home to myself, to truth, to the essential. To life. To love.
Everything is tremoring with the essential. I am. You are. We are.
Become present to the tremor, the essential within you.
Move and live and have your being in this indwelling sanctuary.
Become rooted in the essential and allow the tremoring and the trembling to bring you into brilliant aliveness and lively brilliance!
Each and every moment is conspiring for good. Allow it. Embrace it. Go with it.
This is the Universal Love Story.
Love is loving you, love is moving you, love is creating you in each new now moment.
Past out. Present here. Future clear.
Move the way your Spirit wants to move you. Drop your look good, for the good look of God. This requires radical trust in the good. The good of your own being. The good of life. The good of others. The good of God and this brilliantly orchestrated and divinely ordered universe.
Universe.
There is one song playing.
The one verse?
Love, love, love, love, love, love.
C’mon people now
Smile on each other
Everybody get together
We’re gonna love one another right now.
We are each other’s medicine.
Let us remember the oneness, the innate wholeness now.
Together.
There is a collective fear of oneness – a fear of being consumed, of losing our identity, personality, individuality, personal safety and security. It is a fear of intimacy and vulnerability. This fear of oneness often presents itself in your intimate relationships. You are afraid to surrender to oneness because you may “lose” yourself, when, in fact, quite the opposite is true. It is only when you are willing to lose your life that you receive your life. It is only when you release the lesser that you will receive the greater. No aspect of your true self, your brilliance or your giftedness will be lost; on the contrary, your greatest self will be resurrected, transformed and illumined in the journey into oneness. The fear of oneness can also be experienced as your fear of being and feeling powerless – the fear of being overwhelmed by the grief, despair and violence that are being enacted in the world. Instead, on the path of oneness you will learn how to use the collective grief and despair to open your heart and mind to greater states of compassion, generosity and inspiration.
Today’s practice begins with your conscious choice and intention to become aware of the ways in which your subconscious fears determine and drive your decisions and behaviors. Dedicate this day to actively transforming your fears by choosing to become present to them. Allow the background dialogue of fear and judgment that continuously and automatically plays in your mind to reveal itself to your gentle awareness. It is a costly to believe that these fears are benign – as they are currently influencing many of your choices and actions. At any moment in time over 90 percent of your mind’s actions are subconscious. Today’s practice focuses on making your subconscious mind conscious.
As you move through your day notice when you experience the inner dialogue of the critic – your harsh assessments and judgments of yourself and others, the tension and anxiety in your body and the constriction of breath in your chest. These are the signposts and symptoms of fear and separation. As you notice these signposts, become present to them through your breath. Breathe in, breath out. Use the practice of radical compassion and unconditional acceptance for your own experience of fear and separation. Breathe in, breath out and gently notice.
This practice develops your inner witness and your wise mind. Your inner witness has the capacity to gently observe your fears and your wise mind has the capacity to restore your thoughts to love and your mind to resonance with oneness. Become aware of your fears by activating your inner witness today. Your fears, once revealed, will be healed. Activate your wise mind and return to a state of love, acceptance and compassion. Be gentle with yourself. Practice the art of maitri. Most of your deepest fears originated when you were a young and innocent child. These fears developed through your interactions with adult people that were also trapped in fear and separation. Your willingness to face into the fear of oneness with conscious awareness and courage contributes to the healing of intergenerational fear and dysfunction in the world. Acknowledge yourself for your courage and willingness to be an instrument of love. Dedicate your personal transformation in service to the transformation of the world.
Use your personal sphere of awareness today as you actively reveal and heal your fears. Become present in the here and now and become aware of your internal experience through these five zones of personal awareness.
× Sensing: What are you sensing? What sensations are you experiencing in your body? Use your five senses to bring you into the present moment – what are you seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, tasting and knowing? What signals is your body sending you?
× Feeling: What are you feeling? Our primary emotions are sad, mad, glad, fear and shame. Become present to the shifting landscape of your emotions throughout the day. When you feel fear or anxiety, ask what this experience can teach you? What information about your core fears does it hold for you?
× Thinking: What are you thinking? What are your judgments, opinions, assessments and ideas? Become present to your thinking. Notice and jot down the fears and judgments that are consistently presenting themselves. They are your greatest teachers, they are your guides to freedom and wholeness.
× Wanting: What are you wanting? What are your wants, desires and needs? Become present to what you want. Notice yours fears surrounding wanting and needing. What do this reveal to you about your own judgments and fears?
× Acting: What are intending? What action are you taking? Are your actions sourced in fear or love? Become aware of your actions today. Are you moving the way fear would have you move or the way love would have you move?
Affirmation:
I am healing the separation in the world through the transformation of my own shadow and fear.
i wonder what would happen if i just let myself be
completely be
for an entire day
to do what i wanted
yet, i wonder
what part of me is the wanter
who is doing the wanting?
what if the wanter was my inner sloth
and i spent the day in bed
eating chocolate
watching movies
and eating a quesadilla from taco bell?
what if it was my inner mystic
and i spent the day drinking communion wine and eating wafers
levitating in ecstasy
burning in the sacred heart of christ?
what if it was my inner athlete
and i spent the day
doing yoga
doing pilates
going to curves
going to la fitness
running
swimming
and eating power bars?
what if it was my inner lover
and i spent the day making out
with delicious divinity
in the form of naked masculinity
kissing until my lips
were swollen to three times their normal size?
what if it was my inner spiritual student
and i spent the day
reading the torah
the bible
the talmud
the gita
the sutras
and learning aramaic?
what if?
what if?
i just let myself be?
what would happen?
who would i become?
what unexpected miracles
would arrive?
most days i manage myself
i drink raw juice instead of eating scrambled eggs
i go to the gym instead of watching soap operas
i pray instead of playing frisbee
i read spiritual books rather than nora roberts romance novels
i tithe instead of going on nordstrom shopping sprees
maybe some day soon
i will just let myself be…
what if?
would the inner lover and the mystic get into a debate?
would the inner athlete and the sloth fall in love?
maybe some day soon
i will eat scrambled eggs,
watch soap operas
play frisbee
and go on an underwear buying spree at nordstroms.
(that’s practical right, everyone needs new undies).
just maybe i will?
who….what would “manage” me if i quit that job?
can i trust life?
can i trust my self?
i am going to hire magnificence
to manage me
she is brilliant and amazing
she will guide me.
this was just more nonsense.
i do wonder though…
why do i fear the magnificence of being?
why do i fear being magnificent?
off to navel gaze…
or star gaze…
more later.
i promise…
And how can I nurture it?
And how can you nurture it? And how can we nurture it?
In ourselves, in our relations, in our community, in our world?
What is wanting to come into full blossom?
I AM.
****
I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance;
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.
I sat at a steel grey table today inside a prison. I waited for my 24-year old “adopted” daughter Nichole to come to sit across from me for a visit. The room is filled with at least 100 other people. Granddaughters, daughters, sons, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers making this weekly pilgrimage to visit the incarcerated. The physically imprisoned, that is…
I contemplate my life. What meaning am I making? What and who is being served? Yes, I have been experiencing somewhat of a existential crisis of purpose and impact. And in this most unlikely place, a gentle awareness arrives…
I will never fully see and experience the manifestation of what I am a part of creating. I am of the seed generation. Seeding a new consciousness, seeding a new humanity, seeding a new global community through what I choose to embody here now.
I have left the consensus reality of power over, lack, greed, insufficiency, fear, exploitation, manipulation and consumerism. I am embracing oneness and the principles inherent within this “ism.”
This is what my guidance whispered to me today:
I am living a new pattern of consciousness — of embodied oneness.
I am embodying and living in:
enoughness
sustainability
soul purpose
authentic community
right livelihood
gift economy
abundance
spiritual values
If my only job on the planet today is to learn and live the new pattern so as to be a seed that at some point bears miracle fruit along with the other seeds being planted during this time, well then,
SO BE IT!
There may never be a book or a building or a this or that. But for now there is and there will be an Anakha, doing her very best to live an aligned life, a surrendered life, a devoted life, an inspired life, a God-centered, radically loving life. With God, this becomes possible…probable. Thank you God for this opportunity, for this assignment issued from you. I love you.
I serve the globabl reality of love’s awakening. I serve the global reality of embodied oneness.
Day in, day out…I am a seed. And they say seeds are no small thing!
Amen.
